CKolb

[August 26, 2010] Last month, Canon introduced its latest individual ink-tank design—the PGI-225 pigmented black tank and CLI-226 ChromaLife100+ dye-based color tanks—in the PIXMA iP4820, MG5120, and MG5220. All three devices were five-color machines, but we spotted a gray CLI-226 ink tank on Canon’s U.S. Web site and speculated that Canon would soon introduce one or more six-color devices based on the PGI-225/CLI-226 platform. Canon did just that on August 17, announcing the PIXMA MG6120 and MG8120 as replacements for the PIXMA MP640 and MP990.

Like its predecessors, the WorkCentre 3550 is based on a Samsung engine design—in this case the same engine as the Phaser 3635MFP, another more expensive 35 ppm letter/A4-sized monochrome MFP in Xerox’s line.
